Arcade Wayfinding

We help construction companies grow up!

Arcade Wayfinding is an organization based, first and foremost, on finding the best, most magnetic ways to help construction industry people to make beneficial changes to their habits and workflow, and to better understand the nature of their work.

All of our training content is generated within the Arcade organization. We find that our content fills a unique niche, by catering specifically to construction work with the voice of long experience in the field. We enjoy working with teams from the office, teams from the field, and especially occasions where we’re able to work with both, helping to increase the understanding and communication between the two.

We’re located in West Seattle, right off the bridge. We work to maintain a bright, visually interesting space in which to hold our sessions, and offer breakfast, snacks and coffee drinks from our full espresso bar. While we are happy to travel to our clients’ training spaces, we prefer training in our space, as being in a separate environment from the office or jobsite can help team members maintain a better frame of mind for learning.

We lean into a hands-on approach, so our training series focus on workshops, games, interactive activities and keeping people talking, laughing and engaged. One of our core beliefs is that if you’re not engaged, you’re not learning.

We Don't Grow Up, We Just Get Bigger!

We all know that kids are unique in their learning styles. Some need to hear something, some need to read it, others need to start taking things apart with their hands. It can be easy to forget that adults are no different. If we don’t keep people interested, awake and laughing, it’s hard to walk away remembering what you learned!

Philosophy

Jason's key life philosophy is to 'Manage like you parent, and parent like you manage.' Throughout his career in construction, he has strived to build clear lines of communication with his teams, and construct process and systems when none exist. Jason believes that when management views team members as more than cogs, true leadership can begin to create future leaders.

Experience

Jason began his career in the field first as a roofer and then a carpenter and carpenter foreman. After over 25 years in the industry, he's held key positions as a subcontractor, general contractor, and Owner's Representative and understands the 'circle of life' within construction. Much of Jason's work has been public facing and has been nominated for and received several industry awards.

Mary Sturgeon

Principal Wayfinder

Philosophy

Mary's approach to life is simple: Live like you mean it. Every interaction she has requires authenticity and honesty on both sides. She believes that life is too short to spend time doing work without results or improvement. Mary is a vital component to the sense of social responsibility at Arcade and is as demanding of clients and students as she is of herself.

Experience

Mary started her career in Information Technology and Software Development before her children were born. After a few years of raising babies, she pivoted to a focus in education, especially in teaching technology and code to groups of varying ages and experience levels with self-created curriculum. Mary has worked alongside of Jason throughout his career to help grow and develop the companies and teams he was responsible for leading. Mary shines in bringing her critical thinking skills to any organizational challenge.

Mary can regularly be found creating custom video game curriculum for her teen son Gawen, who shares her love for all things tech.

Our Experience

Before we were Arcade, we were building the experience that we draw on every day. Learn a little more about what we did before we were Arcade!

Roofing and Siding Contractor

We both started our career working first at a family roofing company, then at our own roofing and siding business, Phoenix Exteriors.

Residential Vacation Homes

While we went to school (Jason for Construction Management and Mary for IT) we worked with an old school craftsman, building custom vacation homes on the shores of Lake Michigan.

Education

Between raising babies and coming to Arcade full time, Mary spent time teaching code to kids and serving on the board of an education cooperative.

GC Project Management

While Mary focused on raising our children for a while, Jason built a career in Project Management, working on several high-end, detail oriented projects, including the Amazon Headquarters and Chihuly Garden and Glass in Seattle and Trump Tower in Toronto, Ontario.

Owners' Representation

During his Project Management years and in the early years of Arcade, Jason took on projects as an Owners' Representative for multi-family renovations, with support from Mary as she came on board.
